Registration for high school students and staff now open!
The Virtual Youth Wellness Conference is a two-day event on May 17-18, 2021 (9:00am-2:00pm) hosted by the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS) and offered to New Jersey public and private high schools at no cost. Last year, SPTS intended to offer seven in-person Youth Wellness Summits throughout New Jersey. The 2021 Virtual Youth Summit is not intended to replace the in-person summits; however, it arose out of a necessity to provide this resource in a safe manor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference will provide students and staff with resources to support holistic wellness amidst a pandemic. Throughout the two days, effective prevention and wellness techniques will be presented on a variety of topics including coping skills, effective journaling, preparing for college and adult life, managing emotions and stress, building self-confidence, and effective communication and leadership skills. Students and staff will have various options of breakout session workshops to attend and will be able to select the sessions they wish to attend upon registration. Keynote presentations will begin and end each day and a virtual resource fair will be available during the lunch break.

WHO is invited to attend?
All New Jersey public and private high schools will be invited to select up to 10 attendees per day, with a minimum of two staff and two students. Schools are encouraged to register different students and staff each day to maximize participation. Each school will need to have an identified staff representative who will be responsible for securing permission for a virtual field trip and registering all staff and student participants. There is a maximum limit of 500 attendees per day, and participation will be granted to the first 500 registered. Admission is FREE.
Students selected for this event should represent a cross section of the student body, as opposed to students who typically volunteer or are selected because they excel scholastically or are heavily involved in extracurricular activities. The “Trusted Adults” selected to represent your school may include your SAC, Guidance Staff, SRO, Coach, Teacher, Nurse, Food Service Staff… anyone in your school community who is most likely be approached by a student in need and is most likely to carry the messaging back to colleagues.
HOW do I register attendees from my school?
To register attendees from your school for the 2021 Virtual Youth Wellness Conference, please designate one staff member to register everyone from your school using the link above. Upon registration you will be asked to provide information for all attendees including which date they are attending (May 17th, May 18th or both), email addresses and workshops they wish to attend. Please provide email addresses where students will be able to receive information on the event, including their schedule with workshops links. Often times student school email addresses will block incoming emails. Information on the workshop options can be found in the PDFs below. All workshops are offered during both times each day.
