Safe and Sound: Memorializing After A Youth Dies By Suicide
If you heard Maureen present at the Oct. 9th, 2012 Well Aware Webinar “THE INSIGHT,” you know her focus is practical application of evidence-based programs. A nationally recognized 30-year expert in youth suicide prevention, Maureen focuses on schools and best-practice programs that enhance overall student outcomes. She is co-developer of the evidence-based LIFELINES: A Suicide Prevention Program, and is co-author of Managing Sudden Traumatic Loss in the Schools. Since 1987 Maureen has addressed cluster suicide among youth populations, where she applies latest research and CDC containment recommendations to develop real-world protocols, policies and programs that are grounded in best practice, yet fully relevant to school settings. Maureen is active in forging collaborative relationships between educational and community-based systems. She provides training, consultation on policy development, and assistance in school-based crisis management; is author of the National Association of Social Work’s policy statement on adolescent suicide; and is a past charter member of her state’s Governor’s Council on Youth Suicide Prevention.
