SPTS Youth Council Executive Committee Meets

Discusses plans and goals for helping to #saveteens!

On August 6, 2015, the YouthCouncilSociety for the Prevention of Teen Suicide held its first meeting of the Youth Council Executive Committee at Neptune High School. Student leaders from over 20 Monmouth and Ocean County High Schools came together and developed ideas for projects they are interested in, while grouping together to help lead their fellow Youth Council members. Beyond these projects, students will also be involved in helping to plan the next Youth Wellness Summit, aimed to take place at a Monmouth County high school in the Spring of 2016. This event will focus on skills for coping, resiliency, and wellness, and will be offered to all Monmouth County schools at no cost.

In total, the inaugural SPTS Youth Council has over 60 student members. Together with their Executive Committee Leader, these students will actively seek out the support staff in their schools for ways in which they can bring back what they’ve learned and developed with SPTS to their communities, and ultimately, to their peers.
